Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panel

Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panel

Stainless steel welded wire mesh panels provide a rigid, flat welded grid for machine guards, cages, racks, partitions, protective enclosures and fabricated industrial components where fixed dimensions are more important than continuous roll length.

SHUNQIANG's current SS304 welded mesh panel range includes 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm and 100 mm square-opening products. Current product listings also combine different wire diameters with these openings, because opening size alone does not determine panel rigidity or suitability.

Key Feature

Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panel provides controlled strength and precise geometry, allowing professional users to rely on it for stable separation and protective layouts.

Optimized welding ensures uniform load transfer, while material fatigue remains minimal during long-term use.

Consistent panel flatness improves installation precision, and visual alignment stays sharp in exposed environments.

Surface integrity resists moisture, keeping maintenance cycles predictable and efficient.

SS304 Welded Mesh Panels by Opening Size

The opening determines spacing, visibility, airflow and containment, while wire diameter contributes to panel rigidity and resistance to deformation.

Current SHUNQIANG product listings include:

Opening Current Listed Wire Diameter Selection Direction
20 mm 1.2 mm Close spacing where smaller objects or access must be controlled
25 mm 2.0 mm Relatively close grid with increased wire rigidity
30 mm 2.0 mm Intermediate protective and fabrication applications
40 mm 2.5 mm More open grid with increased wire diameter
50 mm 3.5 mm Guards, cages and partitions where greater visibility and rigidity are required
60 mm 3–6 mm Larger opening for guards, partitions and enclosures where airflow and visibility are more important
80 mm 3–7 mm Open-grid panel for applications where containment requirements are lower and visibility or ventilation is prioritized
100 mm 4.0 mm Large-opening panel where airflow and visibility are high priorities

*These values are current listed product examples, not a statement that every custom panel uses the same dimensions or wire diameter.

How to Select a Stainless Steel Welded Mesh Panel

Choose the Opening

Start with what the panel needs to control.

A smaller opening provides closer spacing and can prevent smaller objects or animals from passing through. It can also reduce access through a guard.

A larger opening improves visibility and airflow but provides less containment.

The correct opening therefore depends on the application rather than simply choosing the most common mesh size.

Match Wire Diameter to Required Rigidity

Opening and wire diameter must be selected together.

Increasing wire diameter generally increases:

  • panel rigidity;

  • resistance to deformation;

  • panel weight;

  • stainless steel consumption;

  • cutting and forming effort;

  • material cost.

A thinner wire can reduce weight and material usage, but it should not be selected only to reduce price when the finished panel must remain rigid after installation.

Panel size also matters. A wire diameter that is sufficiently rigid over a small framed area may behave differently when used across a much larger unsupported span.

Confirm Finished Panel Dimensions

For panel products, finished width and length are part of the functional specification.

If the panel will fit into an existing frame, guard, rack or enclosure, provide the required finished dimensions rather than only a nominal sheet size.

Also indicate whether the dimension refers to:

  • the complete outside panel size;

  • the clear area inside a frame;

  • or the raw panel size before further cutting.

For repeated fabricated parts, a drawing can reduce ambiguity.

Check Edge and Fabrication Requirements

Cut welded panels can have different edge conditions depending on where the cut passes relative to the welded wires.

If the edge will remain exposed, fit into a frame or be handled directly, state any edge requirement in the RFQ.

For fabricated components, also identify:

  • cut-to-size requirements;

  • bending;

  • finished shape;

  • frame integration;

  • required mounting or installation dimensions.

Do not assume that a standard raw panel dimension is automatically the correct finished component size.

Which Panel Specification Fits Your Application?

Application Prioritize Why
Machine guards Opening, wire diameter, panel dimensions and frame interface Opening restricts access while wire diameter and support affect panel rigidity
Cages and enclosures Opening, wire diameter and exposed edge condition Opening provides containment while the wire must resist bending
Industrial partitions Opening, visibility, panel flatness and dimensions Large flat panels must align correctly during installation
Racks and baskets Opening, wire diameter and fabrication geometry The panel must support or retain components without excessive deformation
Equipment protection Opening, rigidity and mounting dimensions Fit and dimensional stability can be as important as corrosion resistance
Architectural or visible partitions Panel alignment, opening, surface condition and finished size Appearance and installation geometry become more important
Coarse screening/support Opening, wire diameter and process conditions A welded panel provides a stable grid but should not automatically be used for fine filtration

For fine particle or micron-level filtration, a woven or specialized filter mesh may be more appropriate.

Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panel

When Is SS304 Appropriate?

The current visible SHUNQIANG panel series is centered on SS304.

SS304 is widely selected where welded panels require corrosion resistance for general industrial, humid or outdoor service conditions.

However, stainless grade should still be matched to the actual environment.

Where the panel will experience persistent salt, seawater, chloride or more aggressive chemical conditions, buyers commonly evaluate higher-corrosion-resistance stainless grades such as SS316.

If the project specifies a particular grade or corrosion requirement, include it in the RFQ rather than selecting material only from a generic indoor/outdoor description.

Welded Mesh Panel vs Welded Mesh Roll

Panels and rolls can use similar stainless steel and opening specifications, but they are purchased for different reasons.

Requirement Panel Roll
Fixed finished dimensions Better suited Requires cutting
Rigidity Main advantage Generally more flexible
Framed installation Convenient Usually needs additional fabrication
Continuous length Limited by panel dimensions Main advantage
Repeated cutting Possible but may increase material handling Often more efficient
Machine guards / partitions Common panel application Requires fabrication into the final structure
Packaging Flat stacking / panel protection Roll packaging

Choose the product form according to the finished installation rather than treating panel and roll specifications as interchangeable.

Custom Panel and Fabrication Requirements

A useful custom welded mesh panel request should identify which parameters need to change.

Relevant requirements may include:

  • stainless steel grade;

  • opening size;

  • wire diameter;

  • panel width;

  • panel length;

  • cut-to-size dimensions;

  • bending or forming;

  • finished component geometry;

  • exposed-edge requirement;

  • quantity;

  • packing requirement.

SHUNQIANG's existing welded mesh information describes cutting and bending as relevant processing options for customized mesh products.

For simple rectangular panels, finished width and length may be sufficient.

For panels that must be bent, fitted into a frame or incorporated into an assembly, provide a drawing showing the finished geometry.

FAQ

What panel size is currently listed?

Several current product listings use a 1 × 2 m panel. Confirm the required opening, wire diameter and panel dimensions for the specific product before ordering.

How do I choose between 20 mm and 50 mm openings?

Start from the containment, access, visibility and airflow requirements. A 20 mm opening provides closer spacing, while 50 mm provides a more open grid. Wire diameter and the required rigidity must then be considered separately.

Does thicker wire always mean a better panel?

No. Thicker wire generally increases rigidity and deformation resistance, but also increases weight and material cost. The correct diameter depends on panel size, support and application.

What is the difference between a welded mesh panel and a roll?

A panel is supplied as a fixed flat piece and is better suited to framed installations, guards and partitions. A roll provides continuous material and is more suitable where repeated cutting or long lengths are required.

Can welded mesh panels be supplied to custom dimensions?

Custom dimensions should be reviewed according to opening, wire diameter, required finished size and fabrication. Provide a drawing for bent or non-standard components.

How should welded mesh panels be packed?

Packing should protect flat panels from movement, edge damage and excessive bending during handling and transport. If your project has specific pallet, crate, moisture-protection or export-packing requirements, include them in the RFQ.
